Introducing – Big Small Business – The Conference
Friends, I have something to share with you that I am all the good nerves excited about.
You may have been wondering where your regular updates on The Elgin Avenue have gone to, and why I’ve been dropping hints here there and everywhere as to something new on the horizon . . . well I am so so happy to finally share with you exactly what I’ve been getting up to for the past few months.
I hope you’ll join me in celebrating the launch of Big Small Business, and enjoy learning more about the very first Big Small Business conference!
So, what is Big Small Business, the conference?
Big Small Business is a one-day conference, happening on April 1st 2017 in Winchester, Hampshire.
The idea behind Big Small Business is to pull together an incredible roster of entrepreneurial speakers, to impart their knowledge, and share their stories, with a conference full of fellow entrepreneurs, inquisitive creatives and big-dreamers.
We hope that the conference will prove to be both educational, and hugely inspirational to you.
Laura and I both know first-hand what it is like to create and run your own venture. It is an incredibly rewarding process. It can also be isolating, confusing and extremely challenging. It is our intention with Big Small Business, that both at the conference itself, and across every touch point of BSB, to help our fellow entrepreneurs to pursue their own dreams, cheered along by a supportive community.
We want to be your cheerleaders, and for you to be each others’ too.
Behind the conference
When Laura first approached me to work together on a conference, I leapt at the opportunity.
I have long-admired some of the incredible entrepreneurial conferences I have seen in the US, and have always wanted to attend one myself. It felt like the perfect fit to create what Laura and I had (it turned out) both been looking for in the UK.
I’ve been working with Hero, Laura’s business, in a consultancy capacity for some time, and I know that at the heart of Laura’s work lies a deep passion for helping fellow entrepreneurs with their dreams and journeys.
As a full-time blogger and business-owner myself, my interest in business and helping others to pursue their dreams has also grown tremendously over the last few years.
In just a few minutes of conversation with Laura, it felt like everything changed.
The minute that Laura and I committed to launching a conference together, we began to piece together our vision. We asked ourselves:
What are the values of our venture? Where will it be? Who will talk? What will it be called?
The values were clear to us from the beginning – Big Small Business is a conference by entrepreneurs, for entrepreneurs. For our first conference we wanted it to serve people close to us, in Hampshire. There is a phenomenal wealth of entrepreneurial talent in this area of the country, and we also know that Winchester is a beautiful place to visit for conference attendees from elsewhere. As for the speakers, we cannot wait to reveal who we have on board – you will be blown away.
And the name?
I had just recently wrote this blog post about the theory of big small business, and the notion fit perfectly with what we wanted the heart of our conference to be.
And so, Big Small Business, the conference was imagined.
Who will be speaking at Big Small Business?
Laura and I have been absolutely blown away by the response we have had from the entrepreneurs we have asked to speak at the inaugural Big Small Business conference!
We will be announcing the full line up at the end of January.
You can sign up to be the first to learn who our speakers are, and to be first in line for tickets when they go on sale too.
How can you sign up for Big Small Business?
Head on over to the Big Small Business website to register your details. Laura and I will be sending out information updates at the end of the month, including who our wonderful speakers will be, and how you can buy your tickets for the day.
Big Small Business is sure to be an incredible educational, and inspirational, day for all its attendees, and it is our intention to foster an ongoing community of supportive Big Small Business-owners, big dreamers and inquisitive creatives, even if you can’t attend our first conference in person.
You can also follow the BSB journey on Instagram here.
& What’s Next For The Elgin Avenue?
Thank you so much for supporting all of The Elgin Avenue’s endeavours, this is the first of a few big developments for The Elgin Avenue, and me personally, this year, and I cannot tell you how grateful I am to have grown and got to know so many of you over the six+ years this little corner of the internet has been running.
Now that Big Small Business is up and running, I am getting back in to the swing of creating content for the blog. I can’t wait to share new articles with you super soon, Croissant Reading will also be resuming as of this weekend.
What’s your take?
I’d love to know your thoughts on Big Small Business! If you are thinking about attending the conference, is there anything you would like to ask me? Or anything you feel would be particularly helpful to you to learn at the conference?
Laura and I are working hard to best serve the BSB community, and we would love to know what you would most like to see?
Thank you again so much friends! And I can’t wait to share more with you soon!
Love, Monica x
