If ever there is an aroma you’d wish to be welcomed home by, it has to be the inimitable perfume of chocolate cake cooking in an oven.
For the past seven years I have made batches of delicious, gooey Betty Crocker chocolate treats for Oli’s cousins and brothers for Christmas. There are six hungry boys in total, and without fail these batches of chocolate goodness have gone down a storm.
I alternate between brownies and cake, but this year it is ALL about the chocolate fudge flavour sponge.
Today I am partnering with Betty Crocker to share the classic Devil’s Food Cake Mix.
Fellow fans of Sex And The City may recognise this as the chocolate cake mix Miranda couldn’t resist.
Remember, when she made the cake and threw it in the bin to resist temptation? And still ate it?!
Yep, that cake.
Read on for my favourite lazy girl chocolate fudge yumminess, and to generally ogle some good looking (if not a little messy) chocolate cake.
. BETTY CROCKER DEVIL’S FOOD CAKE MIX .
I recently posted an article about the Betty Crocker ginger cake mix. My friend Georgie was so happy with her bridesmaid weekend gift, I’ve decided that baked goods are up there with the best gifts you can give someone!
As with all Betty Crocker baking mixtures, the Devil’s Food Cake is SO easy to assemble.
Simply put the Betty Crocker cake mixture in to a bowl, add three eggs, some oil and water and voilá! Your perfect cake mixture is ready to be popped in the oven.
I say perfect, because trust me, it is. I have baked from scratch and nothing tastes as good as the Betty Crocker mixes. Which may say something about my DIY baking too ????
I chose to slice my cake in to rectangular portions. For the decoration of the chocolate cake, I used the Betty Crocker Chocolate Fudge Icing. Again, it’s the best. I then added some pretty white chocolate stars, with a little edible glitter.
Admittedly the end result leans towards the messier side, but there’s nothing like messy gooey chocolate goodness, to gift to a group of hungry boys.
What do you guys think? Do you love to gift baked treats over Christmas too? Are you as big a fan of the Betty Crocker baking mixtures as I am?
