One of my very favourite podcasts to settle into is Garance Doré’s Pardon My French.
In one particular episode Garance sits down with friends Laura Brown, editor in chief of InStyle US, and actress Rose Byrne, to discuss friendship.
One thing Laura and Rose discuss at length, is how important Lady Dates have been to their friendship. Lady Dates are, as the name suggests, dates with your girlfriends. It’s about carving out time for the most important women in your life, just as you would a boyfriend, husband or partner.
Romantically our lives can be turbulent, but friendships are often the relationships which run a steady course. In honour of Lady Dates, and the festive season (surely a pretty darn good pairing!), I’m sharing five festive lady date ideas to book in with your BFF.
I’m excited to be working alongside Messenger to include the new P2P payments function for my Lady Date roundup, making it easier than ever to split the costs of dates with your BFF.
Messenger now allows you to transfer money directly through the app to your friends in a matter of seconds. All you need to do is set up your details once (as does your friend in their Messenger app), and you’ll be able to wing across 50% of your bill in no time.
Being able to split the cost of your Lady Dates with ease leaves more time to fully enjoy your date together!
Be sure to keep your Messenger app up to date, to make full use of the function when it’s rolled out in the UK imminently.
Plus, you can head to Ella’s gorgeous blog, Coco’s Tea Party, to see her tips for How To Be A Great Friend This Festive Season.
5 Festive Lady Date Ideas To Book In With Your BFF
#1 – Festive Errands
It was another podcast favourite – Happier – which introduced me to ‘errand dates’. Over the festive season you will most likely have a million and one errands to run. Be that present shopping, going to the post office, or even your Christmas party manicure!
Ella and I often run errands with one another – they’re SO much more fun when you complete them with friends, and it’s a nice way of spending time together whilst feeling doubly productive. I like to pair my errand dates with regular coffee/wine pitstops too . . .
Around Christmas time the shops are all so incredibly beautiful, and the streets are often lit up with decorations – making it all the more enjoyable and festive to run errands together!
#2 – Go To A Christmas Market
There are Christmas markets all over the UK nowadays. The likelihood is that there is one only a short journey from you.
Personally, I adore whiling away a few hours at a Christmas market. The stalls are so much fun to peruse, and inevitably there will be a stall with dried orange decorations which smell amazing.
And, did I mention that this is another excellent opportunity to indulge in all the festive food?! Send me in the direction of a fresh mince pie and mulled cider . . . SO good!
#3 – Go To A Cheesy Fun Fair
Falling in line with the Christmas markets, there is bound to be a cheesy fun fair going on near you, or in conjunction with the market itself.
One of my favourites is Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park, London. I’ve been going for years with my girlfriends and I cannot tell you HOW much fun we have. There is one ride which is not even remotely scary, but which (because I am the biggest scaredy cat in the world) is PERFECT for me! Thank you friends for putting up with my “again again!” requests
The rides, topped with the ubiquitous ferris wheel, with a side of bottomless gingerbread . . . ?! The perfect festive recipe for a Lady Date if you ask me!
#4 – A Girls Night In
Much though I love a festive outing, there’s something incredibly cosy about spending an evening in with your girlfriends.
Just recently my friend Georgie and I had a Wine Night, complete with Bridesmaids and a proper gossip. It’s the ultimate Lady Date cliché but one which I don’t make time for enough.
Bonus – it’s so inexpensive, which is handy at a time of year which can be pretty costly. And with the new Messenger payments feature you can split the cost of your night-in snacks and treats in seconds.
Ultimately, what’s better than spending quality time with your bestie at home?
#5 – Attend A Carol Concert
Ahhh just the thought of a carol concert is making my heart do a happy little skip! There is something comprehensibly feel good about a carol concert!
You can’t not feel festive when you go to one!
Have a peruse of your local listings, and see if there is one in your local church or Cathedral.
What’s Your Take?
What do you think about the concept of Lady Dates? Do you make time for them with your BFFs, and if so, what are you planning on going to/doing together this festive season?
Be sure to check out the Messenger P2P payments function to make splitting the costs of your Lady Dates even easier this festive season!
