Over the past weekend The Elgin Avenue hit a huge milestone on Pinterest – 250K followers! The growth of our Pinterest profile has been one of the most exciting developments this year, and I am so proud of this achievement.
Instagram and Pinterest are my joint favourite social platforms (and recently I’ve been rediscovering a penchant for Twitter too), but in all honesty we have seen much better growth on Pinterest than Instagram. As a blogger/self-employed creative type, slow growth can be demoralising, and isn’t it always true (and perhaps a typically British self-depracating fact) that we can focus on one negative thing over many more positives?
This growth on Pinterest is a morale-booster, I am giddy that The Elgin Avenue is connecting with so many fellow Pinners!
As well as being an avid Pinner, I use Pinterest as my go-to search tool for inspiration for outfits, DIYs and home improvements. I think of Pinterest as a quality advice pool, if I don’t know I simply ‘Pinterest’. Like an aesthetically-inclined Google!
Here are some of my favourite things to Pin, I hope you enjoy them too, and for each and every one of you following us on Pinterest – THANK YOU!

Finally, a word of advice to fellow creative types, perhaps feeling demoralised by (perceived) slow growth on your social platforms:
Think of your platforms like boutiques. They may not have the footfall of department stores, but the beautiful content, curation and quality they offer is personal and of value to your precious clientele. Look after your regulars and word will spread.
I like to remind myself of this quote when I’m having moments of self doubt.
Do you guys have any thoughts on growing your social platforms? Which is your favourite right now?
Cheers to the new week!
Love, Monica x
