My Hair Care Love Affair: Kerastase Elixir Ultime

Dear Elgin Avenue readers,

A very Happy Monday to you all!

Dontcha just love it when a post title rhymes?
Jessica Biel - my ultimate hair-crush!

So far I have been hitting the books today for a big ol' FashPack School deadline due tomorrow (eek!) however I have popped my head up long enough to tell you about one of the most A-mazing cosmetically-inclined discoveries I have ever made!
Like, ever.
Having a hairdresser boyfriend has its perks, one of which being sampling brand spanking new hair care products as soon as they hit the shelves.
Prior to being with my hairdressing fella I had never given much thought to the products I washed my hair with, ashamedly I even sometimes used shower gel.
So yep, safe to say, not too fussed.
However, having now trialled many a fancy shampoo (yes they do make a big difference) I have discovered the
Kerastase Elixir Ultime
range, which, just as its gold-toned packaging suggests, is as far as I can tell, the holy grail of hair care.
Having used these golden lovelies for a couple of months now I have noticed that my hair is soft but not weighed-down and I have not seen (touch wood!) any glaring split-ends since using it. I have also barely touched my straighteners as blow-drying now results in a smooth finish. My hair feels healthy and as if it has grown inches in only a couple of months.
The quality of the product is reflected in the price - think around £15 for a shampoo but you really do only need to use the tiniest amount. My hairdresser, ahem and boyfriend,  recommends washing once with small dollop and really working it into your hair, then rinsing and washing again, and applying the mask each time you wash your hair (in lieu of using conditioner). I normally leave mine in for a couple of minutes. Before blow-drying I apply the Oleo-Complexe oil just to the ends.
You can buy Kerastase products in any Kerastase-sponsored salon, including Harringtons (click here to find your nearest one), or you can buy online.
I found the Elixir Ultime range here amongst others.

I may have convinced myself I am practically a Rapunzel-in-the-making (a girl can dream) but really I could not recommend this range to you guys enough.

Have you tried Kerastase shampoos before?

Do any of you have hair-care secrets of your own you can share? Do you like fancy shampoos?

Tell me all!

Have a super evening!

Love,

  1. I love the oil! I use after washing all the time, but like you, not loyal to any shampoo, I buy what's on offer. You've made me want to give it a go now though. The oil has lasted me ages so if the shampoo and conditioner's anything like it, then it's worth every penny. Got me thinking now! x

  2. Hey Rosie! Ah awesome - so pleased to hear that you've had a good experience with it too! I would definitely recommend it - I know it is an investment but I could not be happier with the results! Let me know how you get on!
