Tatler Magazine & Storm Models Launch Search For New Teen Talent! x

Dear Elgin Avenue Readers,

A very Happy Sunday evening to you all!

My my how these past few days have flown! I have been submerged in somewhat of a technological wasteland as I very cleverly omitted to pack my laptop charger on my way back to my family abode this weekend and even more cleverly (yes a real smart one here!) managed to forget my entire laptop on the way back to London town! Capital D for dunce for me then! Thankfully I have an amazing flatmate who has so kindly allowed me to take over her laptop until I can wangle mine back so forgive my if the formatting of the next few days' posts is a little off kilter! OK techno-explanation over!

On a much more interesting note I have some very exciting news to share with you all - and  it is particularly relevant if you are/you know a gorgeous 16-19 year old guy or girl looking to dip their toe in to the world of modelling! If so the folks at Tatler Magazine and Storm Models have given me the heads-up on a brand new Teen Talent Search they are launching this Spring for an ahhhmazing supplement to Tatler's September issue entitled Teen Tatler - the winning model will be on the cover, yes COVER, of Teen Tatler!!! BIG deal! Here's a peep at some previous gorgeous young things on Tatler's cover...!
One Of Britain's Hottest Young Models - Edie Campbell!

The Oh-SO-Gorgeous Lily Collins!
Swoon! Ed Westwick and Felicity Jones!
The competition will be judged by none other than Sarah Doukas, founder of Storm Model Management, incredible fashion designer Mark Fast and Tatler Editor Kate Reardon! Storm has launched the careers of many a  supermodel including Kate Moss, Rosie Huntington Whitely and Sophie Dahl - now my gorgeous readers it could be you! Or your sister! Or your brother! Or your BFF.....rack your brains ; )!

SO if you fancy entering yourself, or if you know someone you think would like to, then head on over to tatler.com and get filling in an application!!

Right I am on an interning schedule as I beggin my brand new internship tomorrow morning! I am so excited and I cannot wait to tell you all about it!! Must.get.beauty.sleep!

Trekstock Charity Trade-Up Style-Up!! YOU Can Bid For The WHOLE Look!! x

Dear Elgin Avenue readers,

May I wish you a doubly good Thursday evening as this is my second post for you lovely lot this fine eve!

For those of you who follow me on Twitter (and for those of you who don't you can on @MonicaBeatrice!) you may well already have seen a sneaky peak of the outfit my good friend Bo and I styled this morning for the amazing charity Trekstock which supports young people with cancer and the research into treatments and cures. Bo has supported cancer charities in the past - even doing a pretty impressive looong run in aid of raising money (something which I very much admire!) so of course I was delighted to have been asked to contribute to her 'trade-up challenge' and put together a look which will either be 'traded-up' for something of higher value or sold as the final trade on e-bay in a bid to get some money in the pot for the Trekstock charity and its fantastic work.
Have a look at the photos below which show exactly what you could get for your dollar if you should so wish...!!
Tea Dress: Vintage, Studded Heels: Zara
This amazing Tea Dress was one of my best finds when rooting around London's vintage stores, the print is such a mood-lifter and the fitted shape encourages a serious wiggle!! The studded courts add a little edge - I love the look SO much I may well end up bidding myself ; )!!
Please do check out the Trekstock website here and have a peruse through their fantastic work! If you chose to support this amazing charity you will be in seriously good company - just check out some of the celeb ambassadors below (Yes BEYONCE included....!!)
Photo: Trekstock.com
I will let you know as soon as the outfit goes live on E-Bay so you can place your bids!! On your marks...get set.........!!!!

Have a super evening all!

The Printed Shirt: From Day To Night - As Worn At The Emilio Cavallini Party! X

Dear Elgin Avenue readers,

A very Happy Thursday to you all,

Last night I was lucky enough to be invited along to Emilio Cavallini's central London shindig in celebration of the brands' all round hoisery-based fabulousness! After having had a day of meetings, I had to make a very quick day-to-night turnaround in time for the evening's soiree, with this in mind off came the daytime-appropriate jeans and on with my faux-leather pencil skirt! Like most girls I L-O-V-E getting ready however sometimes I find that when push comes to shove I am a much better decision maker if I am limited to say 20minutes (as I was last night!). I so loved the vintage printed shirt I'd worn in the day (have a look at my post with it here!) that I chose to keep it on for the evening too! Day-to-Night sorted!!
Shirt: Vintage, Faux Leather Skirt: TopShop, Nail Polish: Barry M, Watch: Swatch, Necklace: Anthropologie, Bracelets: A Whole Collection Of Travelling Trinkets!
Two of the Emilio Cavallini models who gave an impromptu reverse strip tease - where they put clothes ON (rather than off natch!) top of their sheer 'tight bodies'
There was not an inch of Sketch London's extensive underground bar-come-dancefloor that was not littered with gorgeous guys and gals all bedecked in funky get-ups busting even funkier moves! Celeb guests included Eliza Doolittle and Jameela Jamil who both hit the decks to DJ up a storm, Amber Atherton of Made in Chelsea fame, the oh-so-gorgeous Tyson Beckford who did his bit for showing off Emilio Cavallini's menswear collection (and managed to make them look pretty desirable!), Zara Martin, Donna Air, Laura Whitmore, Paloma Faith, Leah Weller and Diana Vickers most of whom donned the fashion houses famous tights!

Celebs aside I had THE best date in the house in the form of one of my BFF's Charlotte who you'll remember from the StyleCaster party here, after having trialled a tipple at Sketch (which was super yum by the by!) we made our way around the corner to MoMo on Heddon Street for pretty much the most brilliant cocktails I have E-V-E-R tasted!! At around the £9 mark they are not bad value for Central London either and the Moroccan theme was as gorgeous to look at as it was to lounge in!! Have a peep at some more of their piccy's here or head along yourselves! I imagine weeknights are probably advisable or early at the weekend as it is a seriously popular locale (good for a celeb spotting too!!)
The Ahhhmazing MoMo bar! Image from the MoMo site.
Charlotte and I looking pretty touristy (but throughly enjoying our incredible drinks!!)
And so Charlotte and I finished off the night with a good old girly natter over cocktails - how ideal!!

Look Of The Day: Print Power! X

Dear Elgin Avenue readers,

A very Happy Wednesday evening to you all!

So here I am tip-tapping away after a super day visiting Marie Claire HQ! After being over the moon to have won the very first Marie Claire Fashion Blog of the Year Award (read the write up here!) the fact that I am actually going to be working alongside the Marie Claire team is still boggling my mind!
As such I was so excited today to head along to the MC offices to meet with online editor Helen Russell and chit chat future blogging! Fashion editors tend to look pretty darn amazing (naturally!) and Helen definitely looked the part in a nude lace dress with a gorgeous pastel scarf, and herein lies the conundrum when dressing to meet a fashion ed - the pressure is definitely on! Fortunately I made a pretty snappy decision to don print on print with tan accessories and a Christy's trilby which worked well with the gorgeous sunshine we were oh-so-lucky to enjoy today!
The finishing touch? A copy of April's Marie Claire of course ; )!!
White/Black Jacket: H&M (Old), Multi Coloured Blouse: Vintage, Necklace: Anthropologie, Tan Bag: Vintage, Belt: Mulberry, Jeans: Leigh Topshop, Snakeskin Print Shoes: Bought In Menorca, Trilby: Christys', Watch: Swatch, Jewellery: All Picked Up On Travels
Visiting Essentials!!
As is the case with a fair few of my outfits I found myself reaching for my Christy' trilby as a finishing touch (see here and here for two other Christys' ensembles!) and as such I am so excited tomorrow to head along to Chritys' London office to have a peruse through their extensive collection!
For now I am off to a little soiree for oh-so-cool tights brand Emilio Cavallini!! Ahh must rush - why am I always late?! Eeee!

Have a super evening all!

Monica&Joe 1st Anniversary Party at Soho House! X

Dear Elgin Avenue readers,

A very Happy Wednesday to you all!

My what a lovely day it is in London - so sunny!
So after a few days of total R&R - much needed after finishing Fash Pack School for the term - I am back to putting pen to paper (or rather finger tips to keyboard!)

Last week I was so delighted to be able to celebrate online boutique Monica&Joe's 1 Year Anniversary with founders Monica and Joe Wahla and a whole host of the brands' super stylish friends, as well as my lovely beau!
An anniversary is such a important landmark, it pinpoints a moment in time when you can pat yourself on the back and say "yep, we did it! A year has been and gone and we have done pretty darn well! Time to toast!" and so we duly did just that : )!!
I first met Monica and Joe when I was invited to the preview of their S/S12 collection in January, the write up for which you can read right here, and I fell pretty much in love with their chic boho-luxe approach to buying and styling for women.

Monica Wahla in THE dress of the season by Stella Forest which you can view here, with House of Harlow Shoes and yours truly in a Pyrus 'Calisto' Maxi dress which you can view here  and a Day Birger Et Mikkelson Bag

In the fashion industry there are often launches and events which are a ton of fun and it is great to meet new brands and designers, however it is rare to meet people like Monica and Joe who are so so down to earth and genuinely lovely that you would be as happy hanging out with them over a bowl of pasta with a glass of wine as you would be perusing through their amazing collection of clothes on their online boutique! I was chuffed as chips when I was able to don one of their fab dresses for the event too! This retro print Pyrus maxi dress immediately caught my eye when I popped in to their showroom and it was so darn comfortable to wear too! I was even approached by the brand's gorgeous model who told me that it was her favourite one from her shoot for the look book! Thumbs up all round : )! You can still buy it on the website however I would head over quick as it is selling out!! Monica Wahla's dress was absolutely heavenly too - it was actually one of my 'picks' from S/S 12 and naturally she wore it amazingly with matching mint nail polish - it's all in the details ; )! The mint theme was even carried through to the cupcakes which were iced accordingly! Have a peep at the video below for a full swoop of the event!
The 1st Year Anniversary Video!

Such a cosmo fan! The cocktails at Soho House are worryingly good!!
M&J's gorgeous model in the Pyrus dress!
For a further insight in to Monica and Joe's oh-so-stylish party at Soho House head on over to Monica Wahla's 'Style Fix' blog where you can see all the glamorous attendees in their best Monica&Joe togs (including yours truly!) and see exactly where you can buy it all too!
In Monica Wahla's own words "Our M&J part ROCKED!"!! Yes, yes it did : )!!

Another BIG congratulations to Monica&Joe!  May there be many more fantastic years to come!!

Now I must get my skates on (I say skates I mean silver kitten heels ; )!!) to head on over to Marie Claire's office for a pow wow with online editor Helen Russell! Eee excited!

Have a fantastic day all!

Love, as always,

Dear Elgin Avenue readers,

A very Happy Saturday morning to you all - I hope you are all having a fantastic beginning to your weekends!

So you may recall that I have been slipping in updates of my upcoming Fash Pack School  presentation - well yesterday was the big day and I am SO happy to say that the whole shebang went super duper well! In fact it went so well that the group of talented journalists and broadcasters that I was lucky enough to work with WON the pitch to Proctor&Gamble for whom we were assembling the future trends project for!!
A Happy Happy Group!! L-R Libby Page, Tash Slee, Emily Ridler, Josh Walker, Me, Alexandra Saetrain & Liisa Ennuste (not pictured)

I can hand on heart say that this whole project was incredible and every single person in the group worked their fingers to the bone and their minds to the point of exhaustion to get it right! It was worth it guys!! It has been a pleasure through and through and we are so lucky at The London College of Fashion to get such prestigious projects to work on, supported by inspiring and talented tutors.  I cannot share with you all of our project as it was specially commissioned by Proctor&Gamble buuut here is a little snippet of a photo shoot we produced with one of my great friends, up and coming model Rachel Heather whose Model Mayhem page you can view here, and our other lovely model Michelle - although a bit biased I LOVE our images and I am chuffed as chips that they were received so well against the rest of our presentation. I hope I will be able to share with you our film at some point too! For now enjoy having a peep at these beauties...

Much Awaited: Marie Claire Awards Low Down!! x

Dear Elgin Avenue readers,

A very Happy Thursday to you all - I hope you've all been having a brilliant week!

For those of you who have been reading T.E.A for the past few months you will already be in the know about The Elgin Avenue having won the Marie Claire best fashion blog award 2012!! I have to admit I am still rather reeling in shock from it all and since the awards everything has gone pretty much through the roof! It is so so wonderful to be able to have a wider breadth of contacts in the fashion world and have pow-wows with designers and brands which I really love,  and of course it is ab-so-lutely mind-boggling to think that I'll be working alongside an incredible online team at Marie Claire when I begin writing for them soon.
With all the shindigs and what not that's happened since that incredible Tuesday in January (you can see my original post here), I havn't actually been able to post my account of the Award up until now!! You can read Marie Claire's write-up here, Lizzy from Scientist Chic's here and Wendy from Thank Fifi here
And now for my own personal pics and reflection....!!
Dress: Principles, Shoe Boots: Zara, Metallic Bag: Vintage
Jacket: River Island
Walking in to a room choca block with Marie Claire eds and a whole host  of fashion PR's, I would be telling a fib if I said I didn't feel a tad nervous (read: very nervous!) I was so relieved when the lovely Angela Rawstorne from Marie Claire welcomed me to the event and we were able to natter outfits over a breakfast of coffee and mini salmon bagels.
Having been in the running for the award for a number of weeks there was a certain camaraderie amongst all the fellow nominees; as such I got chatting to Wendy Gilmore of thankfifi.com, who was with her lovely husband Chris, and Beth Goodrum of styleguile.blogspot.com both of whom were super duper nice!
L-R Wendy, Me and Beth
Last but not least I was introduced to Trish Halpin, editor in chief of Marie Claire who once I'd gushed that I "recognised her from her editor's photo" chatted to both Wendy and I about our blogs. It was so inspiring to meet members of such a successful magazine who were all so interested in our own start-ups, and who made us feel completely at ease.
Me with Marie Claire editor in chief Trish Halpin
The Awards room - our blogs were projected on to the walls!
And so the moment came when the Awards were to be announced, first up the beauty awards, best beauty blog went to one of my personal favourite's Fleur de Force, who is exactly that, a serious beauty force with over 12,000 followers!! Wowza! Having seen the bar set so high with the beauty category I was even more nervous for fashion category to be announced. Whatever the outcome was to be (and I was pretty much 100% certain it was not going to be The Elgin Avenue given the amaaazing competition!) I was of course delighted to be at the awards either way and so so happy to have made it this far.
SO next up came the Fashion Awards, best fashion Twitter award went to industry icon Sacha Wilkins of Liberty London Girl and finally the Best Fashion Blog Award was announced........
So astounded was I by what happened next that my memory of the whole event is rather hazy!  I recall Helen Russell, online editor of Marie Claire, beginning with "And now to our Fashion Award Winner, this blogger writes about everything from Olivia Palermo's style, to her love of ballet pumps and her penchant for lunch at Le Pain Quotidien..." Up until the moment Helen mentioned Le Pain I was racking my brains as to which nominees had written about Miss Palermo and ballet pumps however I realised I probably harked on about Le Pain so often that it could actually be The Elgin Avenue! And low and  behold it was!!  Well you could have knocked me over with a feather!
Me collecting the award for TheElginAvenue! Wahoo! Photo:thankfifi.com

SO HAPPY!

Grinning from ear to ear (I still haven't really stopped!)
This month's Marie Claire magazine!! Thank you to my gorgeous friend Charlotte who first alerted me to this! Yay!
And in true Elgin Avenue fashion I duly celebrated - and recovered from the shock - in Le Pain!!
Thank you once again to every one that voted for T.E.A, without your support this never would have happened, and thank you too for your continued encouragement. I am so lucky to have an amazing network of friends, family and of course you my lovely readers who always inspire me!!!
I cannot wait to get cracking with writing for Marie Claire - it really is a total dream!

Now, must get some beauty sleep before my Fash Pack School presentation tomorrow a.m.!

Enjoy the rest of your evening all!

Love, as always,

MB x

P.S. This is how I celebrated in the evening of the award - dinner and cocktails back home with the family! Bliss!
