Dear Elgin Avenue readers,

Happy mid-week to you all ; )! Today my beautiful flat-mate/sudo-wife and I received some very welcome news from University, we both attained grades we were delighted with for our  pre-Christmas assignments (having slogged a marathon 72hours of sleep dep to achieve it!) With this in mind, treating ourselves to dinner out seemed somewhat a necessity!
In aid of our celebratory dinner I chose to embark on a new hair-care escapade. Having recently developed a spiralling infatuation with cosmetic gizmos, I resolved to employ my new Doughnut Bun-Ring and fashion the perfect Frou Frou Bun!
See below for my how-to guide.

Step 1: Begin with hair preferably 1 day old, this works well if you allow a natural wave or kink to your hair. This style is excellent if it is drizzly outside.

Step 2: Gather hair into a tight pony-tail at the crown of your head.

Step 3:  Secure with an elastic, ensure this is tight.

Step 4 (above and below): Slide your doughnut ring over the ponytail, be sure that the hair remains smooth and is fully included within the ring.

Step 5: Use a comb to gently backcomb your hair from the root. As mentioned in the 'Bump-It' how-to, never back comb the ends as this will leave to breakage.

Step 6: Ensure you have sufficient volume in your ponytail. You will need
a thick assembly of hair to cover the doughnut.

Step 7: Fold your hair around the doughnut and pin it where strands fall loose. Use as many kirby grips as is required for the bun to remain secure.

Step 8: Comb fly-away hairs back whilst using a flexi-hold hairspray to fix in place.
And so you have it! The perfect Frou Frou bun!

P.S. This style looks particularly lovely if you are wearing an outfit with an unusual or intricate neckline, the simplicity of this style facilitates a clean silhouette and allows the focus to be on your outfit whilst still maintaining elegance.
